POSITION DESCRIPTION

Children | Youth | Families Minister

About the Role:

We are seeking a Full Time – Children, Youth and Families Minister to develop and run programs and events for children, youth and families at St Marks and the wider Emerald community. The role is an initial one-year contract as we faithfully wait for the appointment of a new Vicar. However, the position has an opportunity to be ongoing following the initial one-year appointment. The position is an ASLM (Authorised Stipendiary Lay Minister) role within the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and requires a licence from the Archbishop.

About You:

Reporting to the Parish Council of St Marks until the appointment of a Vicar (when you will then report directly to the Vicar) you will:

  • Develop, promote, lead and deliver programs and events for children, youth and families. Your ministry role covers both St Marks families and the wider Emerald community.
  • Participate in and lead initiatives such as Sunday morning children’s programs, school holiday and after school programs, inter-generational worship activities and out-reach events.
  • Develop and run a youth program for teenagers incorporating both St Mark’s youth and local out-reach opportunities (including activities, camps, Biblical teaching and regular church services).
  • Initiate pastoral care and recruit, train and develop a volunteer leadership team.
  • Manage the budget, facilities and resources allocated to children and families ministry, including oversight of the St Mark’s Children’s Centre.
  • Act as the Child Safety Officer for St Mark’s.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Attend and participate in the St Mark’s Sunday morning service.
  • Support the mission, vision and strategic directions of St Mark’s and to provide ministry reports as requested by the Vicar and Parish Council.
  • Work as part of the staff team at St Mark’s and be accountable for positive participation in staff meetings and shared initiatives.
  • Obtain all relevant governance requirements (including WWC, National Police Check, Safe Ministry Training and Clearance for Ministry) and serve under the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne Safe Ministry protocols and codes of conduct.
  • The stipend and allowances will be in accordance with the Stipend Determination of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne – ASLM (Authorised Stipendiary Lay Minister).
